Bettye was born to Billie Joe Leaton, Sr and Emma Louise Lemons on September 19, 1949 in Gainesville, Texas.  She passed from this life on February 10, 2019 in Denton, Texas.

Bettye grew up as the oldest of six kids in an Air Force family traveling many miles around the world.  She moved back to Gainesville in 1969 and made her life there.  She worked as a bookkeeper and billing clerk for local pharmacies and doctor’s offices.  She brought joy to many people at some of the hardest moments of their lives. Her passions were reading and watching mysteries and watching Survivor and Big Brother. She always had a welcome smile and hug for anyone who needed it.  She retired in 2013 to be a full-time caregiver for her mother and fulfilled that task faithfully.  The joy of her life was her daughters and grandchildren.  She loved her family and friends fiercely and everyone knew it.

Mrs. Camp is survived by her daughter Ginger Lemons and husband Ricky of Callisburg; daughter Tami Perkins of Santa Fe.  She was also a mother to her brother’s children Johnny Leaton of Jefferson, MO, Christy Leaton and Gary Henry of Gainesville, David Leaton of Gainesville son Charles Lee Camp of Waco and daughter Brenlee Garett-Moon of Abilene.  She is also survived by her grandchildren Katie and Nathan Taylor of Gainesville, Thomas and Kacie Lemons of Gainesville, Kelsey Perkins of Santa Fe, Wade Perkins and Payton Gerdes of Santa Fe, Maxwell and Nicholas Henry of Gainesville; great-grandchildren Ella Lemons, Jayton Lemons and JR all of Gainesville and was excited knowing baby Briggs Perkins was on the way.  Survivors also include her spouse Charles Camp; brothers and sisters-in-law, Don and Linda Leaton of Palestine and Jack and Lena Leaton of Euless; sister and brother-in-law, Livia and Marty Kendrick of Gainesville; sister Jimmie Almon of Gainesville; sisters-in-law, Marty Boyter and Karen Doan; nephews, Vincent Kendrick, Russell, James and Michael Almon; and many family and friends who will miss her dearly.

Bettye was proceeded in death by her parents and her mother-in-law Glenn Camp; brothers Billie Joe Leaton, Jr. and Tommy Leaton; sister in-law Lou Leaton; brothers-in-law Royce Camp, Roger Camp and Danny Camp; sister-in-law Comella McDorman.
