HISTORY

Bill was born on August 28, 1943 in Gainesville, Texas to Woodrow and JoElla Williams. He graduated from Gainesville High School in 1961 where he was quarterback for the Varsity Football team and played other sports as well.

After high school, Bill attended the University of North Texas in Denton where he received a degree in Business Administration.   He began his career in real estate after college and opened his own firm, First Realty. In the early 70’s. Bill later transitioned his company to an association with RE/MAX.

Bill married the love of his life, Mickie, in 1964 and made Gainesville their home.  Bill loved his hometown and strived to make it a town that everyone would love as much as he did. Bill was a huge supporter of Gainesville High School and the school district. He was elected to the GISD School Board and where he served as board member and three terms as president.  More recently, he joined the Gainesville Planning and Zoning in service to the city. Service and mentorship were in his nature.  He always had time to help and answer questions for new real estate agents.  Bill was an integral part of the Cooke County Board of Realtors and served numerous terms as president.

Faith, family and friends were very important to Bill.   He was firm in his belief in God and passed knowing the love and assurance of his Lord and Savior.  Bill and Mickie have been members of Westminster Presbyterian Church for more than 50 years. He was proud of his family and loved retelling the story of how he and Mickie met and eventually married. Bill attended every game of his grandson, Vincent, to keep his stats for post-game strategy talk.   Bill always had a smile and helping hand for his friends. Spending time with Bill meant lots of stories and listening to music. His high school days and softball era provided hours of laughter and memories for everyone.
