Bloyce Gene Davenport

Bloyce Gene Davenport passed away on Sunday, October 24, 2021 at the age of 95, in Gainesville.

Services will be held Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at Hillcrest Church of Christ in Gainesville.  A visitation will begin at 1:00 PM followed by the funeral at 2:00.  Burial will occur after the funeral in Fairview Cemetery.  Ben Willingham and Wade Bower will be officiating the services.

Mr. Davenport was born June 29, 1926 in Bonita, TX to Robert Lee and Effie (McCracken) Davenport.  He married Glendora Mae Lovett on October 4, 1947.  He served in the US Navy during WW II aboard USS Lauderdale.  He attended Bonita High School and Texas Christian University.  He was involved in many community service clubs including the Lions Club, Rotary Club, Jaycees, and Toastmasters.

Throughout his life, Gene preached at many local Church of Christ congregations.  He retired from Cooke County Electric Co-Op.

Mr. Davenport really enjoyed traveling with his wife and their friends.  He always looked forward to spending time with his family which he loved very much.  He told many stories and was always quick with a joke or two that he shared with family and friends.  In his spare time, he hunted and collected arrowheads.  He was a baseball fan and watched the Texas Rangers play every chance he had.

Gene is survived by his wife of 73 years, Glendora Davenport; son and daughter-in-law Larry and Shirley Davenport; son Mike Davenport; grandchildren:  Gina and husband Bredger Thomason, Jaime and husband Trent Macon, Ashley and husband Jacob Estes, Micah and wife Lauri Davenport, Kiley and husband Steven Walker.  He is also survived by his great-grandchildren:  Madison Thomason, Collin Macon, Remington Davenport, Roen Davenport, Kyndall Macon, Barrett Walker, Logan Estes, Zoey Walker, Landon Estes.
