Bob Davies

September 13, 1955 — October 14, 2021

Robert Edward Davies, A.K.A. Captain, Pops, Grandpop, Son, Brother, Uncle, and “Hey Dad”, age 66, of Era, passed away October 14, 2021 in Fort Worth.

Bob was born September 13, 1955 in Baltimore, MD to Wilkins Lee and Barbara Jean (Goodwin) Davies.  He was raised in Baltimore by his grandparents, Edward and Agnes Goodwin, and Uncle and Aunt, Bruz and Diane Goodwin, and grew up working in the family’s fish market.  After graduating high school, Bob enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and attended Embry–Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, FL on scholarship.  He became a fighter pilot flying the F-15 Eagle, callsign “Snot”, and saw tours in Japan and Holland.  While stationed at Kadena AFB (Okinawa), he met the Wing Commander’s daughter, Lori Macfarlane, and the two were married January 1, 1983.

After his active duty, Bob joined the Maryland Air National Guard flying the A-10 Warthog, and began his career at American Airlines.  He flew internationally as a copilot, then domestically as a Captain, completing his retirement flight on August 30, 2020.  In his free-time, Bob was often found tinkering on hot rods, a passion he maintained since childhood.  His prized possession was a 1967 442 Olds, his “first love”, that he purchased when he was 17 years old (NOT FOR SALE).  His favorite pastime in recent years had become spending time with and spoiling his grandchildren.  He was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, always willing to help and serve others.

Survivors include: wife, Lori Davies of Era; son, Brandon Davies and wife, Bethany of Gainesville; son, Bryce Davies and wife, Cherise of Redding, CA; son, Brock Davies of Denton; daughter, Kabria Davies of Paola, KS; son, Brett Davies and wife, Winter of Kyle, TX; daughter, Briley Davies of Era; grandchildren: Elorie, Hazen, Ember, Ennika, Esther, Tyson, Miles, Gavin, Jett, and two more expected; half-sister Melanie Millhauser Leach; uncle and aunt, Bruz and Diane Goodwin of Millersville, MD; cousins: Barbara Dean and Eddy Goodwin, Jr., both of Maryland; and many other beloved relatives.
