From the moment she was born in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma on September 11th, 1954 to Jack and Ann (Kennedy) Mitchell, Brenda K. Herron led a challenging yet adventurous life. Being diagnosed with polio at 5 years old and undergoing countless surgeries never kept her down. She lived a life that could have you sitting at the table listening to her speak of her stories for hours completely enthralled. Many included her love for dance, cooking, and playing the slots. But nothing ever compared to her love and affection for her family.
Though she was preceded in death by her husband, Jessie LeRoy Herron in 2020, she still spoke of him with an abundance of tenderness. She would tell stories of their travels, their award winning dancing, and the love they had between them.
This, of course, never took away from the truly astonishing amount of love she had for the loved ones that have survived her and will keep her memory alive in their hearts. Her daughter, Nadia Mitchell. Her two brothers; Gary Mitchell and Mark Mitchell. Her grandsons, Alex and Ethan Mitchell. Not forgetting, of course, her granddaughters Kensey Chapman along with Kyrstin and Katelynn Knighten. She also lives on through her great grandchildren Mailani and Matilyn.
The family would like to give thanks and appreciation to Anita Morgan for stepping up and giving a helping hand in the last few months of Brenda’s life and for being a fantastic lifelong friend. Also, a big thank you to Grant Mitchell for helping us by paying for services. We appreciate you so much!
Tragically, on March 21st at the Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth, Brenda was called back home to God. Brenda had a very giving heart, and she will always be remembered fondly by the people she met and cared for.
A Memorial Service in honor of Brenda will be held on Friday, March 28th 2025 at 1:00 p.m. with visitation to follow at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home of Gainesville, Texas.
Thank you for your support during this difficult time.
