Bryan Kent Schneider, 66, of Gainesville passed away on April 7th. He was enveloped by the love of his family who told stories from his life as he left this world too soon, as great men often do.
Kent loved hunting, spending time outdoors, and his dog, Sheba, who teased him relentlessly (which he absolutely deserved). More than anything, he loved people- his family, the many friends he felt blessed to know, and strangers on the street. He had a generous soul and a true desire to help others, which he did every time he had a chance. He was always ready with a story- or a good lie- that would leave you wheezing with laughter and wondering just how big the antlers really were before the deer hit the ground and knocked them down a few sizes. He spent 32 and 11/12th years completely in love with his wife, Betty- no matter how many not-so-stunned-after-all animals he released into her house over that amount of time.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Ann Schneider; his sons James Bryan Schneider (and wife Tina) and Christopher Scott Schneider (and wife Shelly); daughters, Amber Nicole Brooke (and husband Andrew), Patricia Charlene Schneider, and Jenifer Grove O’Dell (and husband Chris), as well as 15 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Charlene Hardin (and husband Ronnie) and brothers Mark Schneider (and wife Sherry) and Robert Holt (and wife Patti). We always knew he’d be first, but most of us thought some kind of wild animal would be involved.
Kent was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Gus Schneider and Willie Holt (who we’re sure has him by the ear already), his grandson, Casey Lowery, and his brother, Fred, lost to a horrific blender accident as a child.
Visitation will be held Saturday, April 13th, at George J Carroll, at 1PM, with service to follow at 2PM. Please join us to share stories, lies and laughter about Kent’s unforgettable life.
