Carl Sanders

Carl Sanders, 68, of Gainesville, passed away on March 25, 2023.  He was born August 17, 1954 to Jo Ann Sanders and Freddie Williams.  He was his mother’s only child.

Carl attended Booker T. Washington School and graduated from Gainesville High School.  He married Kathy Sanders on November 1, 1974.  To that union were born two children:  Cameron Sanders and Martina Sanders.

Mr. Sanders, together with Kathy, enjoyed working in the yard, attending concerts, and going on cruises.  He loved the holidays; they would decorate their home and yard together.  They also played and sang with the family gospel group.  He was a diehard Dallas Cowboys fan.  He enjoyed playing flag football for many years and hosted family and friends for bar-b-ques which he called the “Q”.  He worked 36 years as an auto parts manager, spending the last 18 years of his career with James Woods auto dealership.

Carl leaves behind his wife of 48 years, Kathy; daughter Martina Sanders; son and fiancé Cameron Sanders and Kristi Marion; several step-sisters and step-brothers.  He is also survived by eleven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; several cousins and many friends.

Mr. Sanders was preceded in death by his mother and two brothers-in-law.  He is also preceded by several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Carl’s smile and sense of humor will be sorely missed as well as his stylish dressing.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, April 8, 2023 at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Frank Lorne officiating.  A reception will follow at Corinth Baptist Church, 1012 Field St., Gainesville, TX, 76240.

The family would like to thank Home Hospice of Grayson, Cooke, and Fannin Counties and their wonderful staff during the family’s time of need.  Thank you for all that you have done.

Carl, you will be truly missed.  We love you.
