J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home.

On March 4, 2021 Carol Sue Matthews left her earthly home and entered eternity.  Carol Sue was born on January 29, 1945 and finished up the line in a family of 5 beautiful, feisty, girls.  She adored her parents and loved her older sisters. She married Larry Matthews in1962 and loved his family as they became her own.

She welcomed everyone into her home and was quick to offer help in any way possible. Carol was always quick to recognize the talents of others, but she was very creative herself. Her ability to create something new out of something old and her passion for sewing and quilting kept her busy.  She saw a purpose for everything, never wanting anything to go to waste. She also had a gift for caring and thinking about people and sending notes and cards to encourage them, often creating cards herself. Carol was tender hearted and she gave selflessly. She was often heard saying, “You can have it.”

Her Ladies’ Sunday School class at Era Baptist Church was very dear to her and she talked about them frequently, letting her family know how each lady was doing and how valuable each one was to her. She loved seeing everyone at her church and was especially excited to see, hold, and talk to babies.

Carol enjoyed life to the fullest until her very last days. She teased, laughed, and served easily.  Time shared with her daughters, grandchildren, and great grandchildren was extremely precious to Carol.  She gave selflessly and was quick to share anything she had with them and others. We will miss her greatly, but we grieve with hope and the knowledge that we will see her again.
