Services for Carolyn Joy Amoroso, 74, of Gainesville are scheduled for 10:00 am on Wednesday, January 9th, 2018 at the Crossroads Baptist Church with the Rev. Randy Taylor officiating. A visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 pm Tuesday at the Geo. J. Carroll and Son Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Gainesville.
Carolyn Joy Amoroso passed to her heavenly home while surrounded by her loved ones on Saturday, January 5, 2019.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Everyone who spoke to her, knew of her love for God, her family, and her church. Her sweet smile could brighten any one’s day.
Carolyn was born in Berkeley, California on April 10, 1944 to Benjamin Franklin and Lucia Yvonne (Brown) Young. Thanks to the railroad, the family moved to Oklahoma and then to Texas when Carolyn was very young. She attended Gainesville Schools, and many years later would retire after 32 years of feeding the students of GISD through the food service, including 25 years as manager of the High School Cafeteria.
Carolyn married the love of her life, Larry Royce Amoroso, on February 27, 1970. Together, they raised five children. Carolyn’s love for her family was unconditional. She attended every event in which her children and grandchildren participated, whether it be a sporting event, a graduation, a church performance, or a wedding. No one could ever doubt grandma’s love.
Carolyn was a long-time member of Crossroads Baptist Church, where she has served in the nursery, Sunday School, choir, and children’s church. In later years, Carolyn’s ministry was as a prayer warrior for her church family at Crossroads.
Carolyn’s love was extended to her close group of friends, with whom she had regular game nights that will not be the same without her.
Carolyn is survived by her sons Clark Dishman Jr and wife Lanna, Scott Dishman and wife Cindy; her daughters Kim Ferrell and husband Bryan, Shelli Baldwin and husband James, Traci Skinner and husband Kenneth; sisters Bennie Old, Shirley Sims and husband Tony. Grandma also leaves behind 18 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband, Larry; her parents, Ben & Yvonne; sister Barbara Wishard; and brother Bobby Young.
Pallbearers are her grandsons Clark Dishman III (Trey), Joshua Baldwin, Daniel Dishman, James Ferrell, Taylor Dishman, Steven Dishman, and Travis Skinner.
The family asks that memorial donations be made in Carolyn's name to the Crossroads Baptist Church Building Fund.
