Carroll Spiller

Funeral services for Carroll Spiller, 65, of Gainesville, are scheduled for 2:00 PM on Monday, December 16, 2019 at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Kremling officiating.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 PM prior to the service.

Mr. Spiller passed away December 11, 2019 in Gainesville.

Carroll was born January 19, 1954 in Chicago, IL to Vernie Virginia Sloan.  He grew up and lived most of his life in Texas and Oklahoma.  Mr. Spiller worked in the farming and mechanic trades most of his life.  He met Mitzi Kirkland in 1981 and the couple married January 25, 1985 in Marietta, OK, settling in Gainesville 30 years ago.  Mr. Spiller enjoyed working on old cars and trucks and visiting with his many neighbors and friends.  He was always willing to lend a helping hand.  Mr. Spiller most enjoyed spending time around his family, particularly his grandchildren.

Survivors include: wife of 38 years, Mitzi Spiller of Gainesville; son Steven Spiller of Eunice, LA; daughter Makayla Lambert and husband Jack of Southmayd; son Eric Spiller and wife Courtney of Gainesville; grandchildren: Karter, Waylon, Harley, and Kien; sisters: Tammy, Mary, Patsy, Sherri, and Teresa; brother Basil; brother-in-law Ricky Kirkland; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Spiller was preceded in death by: parents Vernie and Gerald Prater; brothers: Gerald Don Prater and Marvin Prater; and sister Paula Baker.
