Charlene Ritchey

Charlene Ritchey, 76, of Gainesville, passed away September 26, 2021 in Gainesville.

Charlene was born March 11, 1945 in Durant, OK.  She graduated Salutatorian from Yuba High School (OK) in 1963.  A skilled musician at a young age, Charlene was selected to play piano at Carnegie Hall while in high school.  She married Alan Ritchey on August 3, 1963 in Yuba.  The couple worked together in starting several family businesses.

Mrs. Ritchey served on various boards and assisted many organizations by committee including: Valley View School Board, Camp Sweeney, Frank Buck Zoo, Texoma Health Foundation, Texas Commission on Private Security, and Valley View United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School and sang in the choir.  When not spending time with family, Mrs. Ritchey enjoyed reading and cooking.

Survivors include: daughter, Linda Dee Hudspeth and husband, Don of Denton; son, Robby Ritchey and wife, Stephanie of Pilot Point; daughter, Tammra Allison and husband, David of Argyle; daughter, Cindy Brown and husband, Craig of Ponder; daughter, Debra Hieb and husband, Brad of Valley View; grandchildren: Luke and Kimberly Hudspeth, John and Mackenzie Hudspeth, Sarah Beth and Justin Stevens, Leah and Benjamin Phillips, Lindsey and Matt Turner, Taylor and Colt Ritzel, Tyler Ritchey, Casey Ritchey, Brandon and Christin Allison, Caleb and Courtney Allison, Ryan Allison, Caitlyn Brown, Connor Brown, Nicole and Dayton Deckard, Kevin Hieb, Lance Hieb, Cheaney Ritchey, Kassidy Ritchey, and Barron Ritchey; great-grandchildren: Tye, Emory, Todd, Annabelle, Cooper, Claire, Olivia, Charlotte, and Samuel; sister-in-law, Deborah Stroup of Durant; brother-in-law, Harvey Ritchey of Valley View; nephew, Richard Stroup; nephew, Bobby Joe Ritchey and wife, Cathy; and niece, Charla Moss and husband, James.

Mrs. Ritchey was preceded in death by: parents, Fred and Jewell (O’Daniel) Stroup; husband, Alan Ritchey; son, David Alan Ritchey; grandson, David Hudspeth; and brother, Fred Stroup, Jr.

The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:30 P.M. on Thursday, September 30, 2021, at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home.  The funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 P.M. on Friday, October 1, at Valley View United Methodist Church with Don Scivally officiating.  Interment will follow at Valley View Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Valley View United Methodist Church, or V.N.A. Hospice.
