Charles F. Hill

Charlie Hill, 97, of Whitesboro, passed away October 5, 2019 in Gainesville.

Charlie was born January 28, 1922 in Blytheville, AR to Chas and Francis (Smith) Hill.  He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II as an instructor, achieving the rank of Warrant Officer.  Mr. Hill married Ross Evelyn Paxton on December 17, 1966 in Houston.  After receiving his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Houston, Mr. Hill began a long and fruitful career with the Federal Housing Authority, from which he retired in 1980.  In retirement, he took great pride in tending to his garden and spending time with his beloved family.

Survivors include: son Skip Paxton and wife Kathy of Whitesboro; daughter Pamela Moncrief and husband Jack of Deer Park; granddaughter Robin Moncrief and husband Alex Gellman of Boca Raton, FL; grandson Jason Paxton and wife Callie of Whitesboro; granddaughter Shelli Brock and husband Jeff of Whitesboro; grandson Charles Gilbreath of San Ramon, CA; and four great-grandchildren.

Mr. Hill was preceded in death by: his parents; wife Evelyn Hill; sister Frankie Janette Hill; daughter Sherry Gilbreath; and grandson David Moncrief.
