Charles Ray Sheffield

Charles “Charlie” Ray Sheffield passed away in Gainesville, September 16, 2023 at the age of 79.  He was born December 17, 1943 in Venus, TX to Ernest Walter and Iva Lee Williams Sheffield.

Charlie was in the Army for nearly 20 years as a Green Beret stationed at Fort Benning, GA.  He served in Vietnam.  He married Marsha Diane Parkhill Tharpe on June 29th 1987.  He had two children, Stephen and Stefanie Sheffield, one step-son Jody Ray Tharpe, and one step-grandson Michael Ray Tharpe.  He worked for the city of Gainesville for many years before retiring.

Mr. Sheffield was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Marsha on April 6, 2022.
