Clara Dean Ball

Clara Dean (Newberry) Ball, 79, of Gainesville went to be with her Lord on February 4, 2022.

A memorial service for Clara will be held at Crossroads Baptist Church on Monday, February 14 ^th at 11:00 AM with Pastor Randy Taylor officiating.  The family will receive friends at 10:00 AM.  She will be laid to rest at a later date in a private family burial service.

History

Clara Dean was born October 3, 1942 in Van Buren, AR.  She attended Tascosa High School in Amarillo and Amarillo Beauty College, completing cosmetology studies in 1968.  She moved with her husband and children to Gainesville in 1972.  She went on to work as a factory worker (Lorch and Bomber Bait Company) and as a school custodian for GISD.  She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.  Clara loved her family and friends fiercely and with her whole heart.

In her retirement, Clara served in the Texas Extension Agency and, along with many friends, was a prolific quilter.  She was proud to make and donate quilts for charity auctions.  Clara was generous to a fault, quick to help others and was both feisty and sweet.

Survivors

Clara was preceded in death by her husband Marion Newberry and her husband of nearly 40 years, Jerry Ball; parents Walter Tress Mitchell and Lola Mae Draper Mitchell; siblings Mary Mitchell Self, Walter Mitchell and George Mitchell.  She is also survived by her daughter Susan Foster; daughter and son-in-law Vicki and Jim Robertson; son and daughter-in-law Charlie and Christie Newberry; step-children Steve (and Jeanne) Humphries and Craig (and Rhonda) Ball; grandchildren Justin Ward, Tiffany Ward Crenshaw, Frank Krantwashl, Stoney Newberry, Katie Newberry, Bailey Newberry, Maranda Humphries Lewis, Ross Humphries, Trevor Humphries, Jake Ball, Nikki Ball, as well as eight great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by numerous beloved family members and treasured friends.
