Dale Sleppy

June 12, 1934 — January 10, 2021

Wilbur Dale Sleppy, 86, of Callisburg, Texas, passed away on Sunday, January 10, 2021, at his home where he lived with his wife Dixie for 24 years. He was born on June 12, 1934, in Arcanum, Ohio to the late G. Chalmer and Mary Sleppy of Arcanum. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Donny and Robert Sleppy; and two infant sons, Timothy and Jeffrey.

Surviving is his wife Dixie and their four children, sons Dale Jr. & Cindy of Round Rock, TX; Rick & Elaine Sleppy of Wichita, KS; Terry & Patty Sleppy of Independence, MO; and daughter Cheri & Greg Wolf of Oxford, PA; 18 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Both Dale and Dixie grew up in southwest Ohio. He lived there for 42 years before moving the family to Texas. Dale moved the family to Indiana, where they lived for 3 years before moving to Kansas. Each move they made, it seemed as though their plan was to drop off a kid or two, or so the children say.

Dixie was the love of his life, and they were married for 64 years. As a couple, they really enjoyed riding his motor scooter and being together, whether it was to go bowling, roller skating, to the movies, or just being the first couple out on the dance floor.

Dale served in the Unites States Army National Guard for 42 years and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel (LTC). He worked as a Production Manager for various mobile home manufacturers across America before retiring in 1999. Both Dale and Dixie are members of the Callisburg United Methodist Church, and Dale served terms as an Administrative Council Chairperson and as a Sunday School teacher.

Dale was a gifted runner and athlete. He loved to bowl, play baseball and softball; but he also enjoyed coaching his kids in sports and life lessons. He was passionate about life and was a great encourager to his kids, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was full of joy and loved to laugh as well as make others laugh with his quick wit. His life impacted so many people in so many ways. He will be missed by all.
