David Michael Downe

David Michael Downe , 54, of Gainesville, Texas passed away Saturday, February 4, 2023. He was born in Gainesville to Lawerence Ray and Sue Ming Downe on November 5, 1968.

David grew up on his family’s dairy farm southwest of Gainesville with his two brothers and attended Era Schools from kindergarten through 12th grade.  While in high school, he enjoyed running long distance track and competing in many FFA and 4H activities.

After high school, David attended Cooke County Community College and spent his adult life working for and serving his family.  In his free time, he enjoyed studying the weather and baking his famous cookies for his family, especially his nieces and nephews.  He rarely missed their sporting and competition events and was a very loyal and devoted uncle to them.  He loved all things “Cowboy” and was passionate about his love for Jesus Christ.

Mr. Downe is preceded in death by his mother, Sue Ming Downe, and is survived by his father, Lawrence Ray Downe of Gainesville; brother and sister-in-law Larry and Robin Downe of Gainesville; brother and sister-in-law Brian and Laurie Downe of Argyle.  He is also survived by his nephews Aubry and Zachary Downe and his nieces Ashley Ott and Miranda Cochran.

David will be laid to rest in the Spring Creek Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 10th.  In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Spring Creek Cemetery Foundation at 624 West University Drive #315, Denton, TX, 76201.
