David Craig Pruett

Funeral services for David Craig Pruett, age 63, of Shawnee, OK, are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 29, 2023, at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Nathan Cook officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service.

David passed away April 17, 2023 at OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City, OK. He was born May 16, 1959 at Carswell AFB Hospital, Fort Worth, TX to Joe Irron and Ruth Nix Pruett. As an Air Force kid, he lived in Texas, Michigan, New Hampshire, and Arkansas and attended many different schools until his father retired and the family moved to Gainesville, where he enrolled in seventh grade in 1971. David graduated Gainesville High School in 1977, where he participated in band (clarinet and tuba) and he attended Cooke County College and Texas A&M University. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Gainesville and the Youth Choir during his teen years, going on choir trips to California and Wisconsin. David worked at Gainesville Printing Co. during high school and was in maintenance at several large companies in Texas and Oklahoma until retirement.

Survivors include: mother Ruth Nix Pruett of Gainesville; brother Jerry K. Pruett of Gainesville; uncle Sanford Nix and wife Debbie of Malvern, AR; cousins: Alan Nix, wife Cassie, and children Mason, Emma, and Presley of Malvern, AR, Mary Lou Douglas of Elm Mott, Joanne Douglas of Round Rock, Carol Randolph and husband Joel of Keachi, LA, Phyllis Blackwood and husband Larry of Elm Mott, Ron Pruett and wife Sharon of El Paso, Sherrie DiSalvio and husband Gerry of Corona, CA, Collin Bosiger and wife Samantha of Richmond, VA, Denise DiBiccaro and husband Michael of Crossville, TN, Jean Riggs Barton of Corpus Christi, and C.J. Riggs and wife Jama of Terrell.

David was preceded in death by: father Joe Irron Pruett; grandparents Steve T. and Ola Riggs Pruett; grandparents Elmo and Myrtie Clifton Nix; all his Pruett uncles: Steve W., Lloyd L., Larry F., and Arlon, and their wives; and cousins: Michael Pruett, Lynol “Butch” Pruett, Jean Pruett Parker, Danny Lee Pruett, and Jackie Riggs.

Pallbearers are Alan Nix, Lee Shenk, Larry Smith, Tim Stobaugh, Sparky Flint, and Robbie Baugh.

Honorary pallbearers are Ron Pruett, Johnny Leftwich, Eddie Hadlock, and Richard Hamilton.
