Debra Jo Mitchell

On Monday, August 24, 2020 Debbie Mitchell, a loving wife and mother of three, passed away at age 64.

Debra Jo Mitchell was born on March 19, 1956 in Pampa, TX to Doug and Betty Flynn.  Raised in Walnut Bend, Debbie attended Gainesville High School and received a bachelors from North Texas State University. On August 2, 1974 she married Marcus J Mitchell and spent the next 46 years raising and supporting their children, Chad, Chris, and Kelly.

A dedicated history and special education teacher for 38 years, Debbie taught at St. Mary’s Parochial School, Gainesville High School, Searcy High School in Searcy, AR, and finished her career in 2018 at Norman High School in Norman, OK.

Debbie had a genuine and sensitive soul and cared deeply for her friends and family. Debbie appreciated the simple things like a cold Dr. Pepper, a Paradise Bakery Snickerdoodle, and a good movie with buttered popcorn.  Her life as "Gran" added so much happiness to her heart as she adored her three grandchildren.

Debbie was preceded in death by her father, Doug.  She is survived by her husband Mark; son Chad Mitchell; son Chris Mitchell and his wife Terri; daughter Kelly and her husband Drew Schrader; three grandchildren, Brandis, Rhoads, and Nora; mother Betty Flynn; sister Sandy and her husband Tom Tower; sister Kathy and her husband Jerry Seay; sister Susie and her husband Terry Hutchison as well as several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, September 8th, 2020 at First Baptist Church Gainesville on 308 E Broadway Gainesville, TX 76240 at 10 o’clock a.m.
