Funeral services for Della Irene Samek, 87, of Denison, are set for 11:00 AM Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at the Harvest Time Assembly of God Church in Sherman with Nathan Cain officiating. Burial will follow at 2:00 PM in the Fairview Cemetery in Gainesville under the direction of the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home. A visitation will be held at 10:30 AM prior to the funeral at the church.
Della was born on October 28, 1933 in Gainesville to Barney and Ruby Frances (McDaniel) Samek. She passed away in Denison on March 13, 2021.
Della graduated from Era High School and Draughon's Business College. She worked and retired from Firemen's Fund Insurance Company in Dallas. Della moved to Sherman in 2008 and started attending Harvest Time Assembly of God Church. In 2013, she moved to Wesley Village Retirement & Assisted Living where she made many friends with the residents and staff.
Della is survived by her sister Juanita Prelip of San Clementine, CA; sister Deloris Hart and her husband Neill of Denison; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister May Belle Prelip and husband Guy; and sister Louise Kennedy and her husband Gerald.
Pallbearers will be Doyle Smith, Duke Smith, Don Kennedy,Wes Hart, Chad Gregg, and Frank Prelip.
