Memorial services for Donald James Hellman, 73, of Gainesville, are scheduled for 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 29, 2020 at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home with Pastor Jason Hobbs officiating. VFW Post #6205 will render military honors. Mr. Hellman will be inurned at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery at a later date. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 AM prior to the service.
Mr. Hellman passed away August 21, 2020 in Muenster.
Don was born February 8, 1947 in Muenster to Charles August and Alvina Bertha (Gehrig) Hellman. He served in Vietnam as a Specialist in the U.S. Army. Mr. Hellman married Kathy Sluder Price on July 14, 2001 in Gainesville. They were members of Calvary Baptist Church. He worked for NorTex Communications for many years. Mr. Hellman loved attending his grandchildren’s sporting events, was very active with VFW Post #6205, enjoyed gardening, fishing and hunting, and loved riding his motorcycle.
Survivors include: wife Kathy Hellman of Muenster; son J.P. McWilliams and wife Rosa of Montague; son Kris Price of Gainesville; son Bill Hellman of Montague; daughter Patty Hellman of Fort Worth; son Nick Price and wife Julia of Krum; daughter Jamie Stewart of Gainesville; grandchildren: Ethan Hellman, Ben Hellman, Maci McWilliams, Seth Price, and Lily Price; sister Charlene Cowan and husband Richard of Muenster; brother Lou Hellman of Omaha, NE; brother Mark Hellman of Muenster; brother Dale Hellman of Muenster; and sister Janelle Hellman of Muenster.
Mr. Hellman was preceded in death by: his parents; and brother Billy Ray Hellman.
