Don Lower

Graveside services with military honors for Donald Ross Lower, 89, of Valley View, are scheduled for 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, January 26, 2021, at Tioga Cemetery with Chaplain Dennis Noblett officiating.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30 P.M. on Monday, January 25, at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home.

Mr. Lower passed away January 22, 2021 in Valley View, TX.

Don was born December 4, 1931 in Houston, TX to Paul and Verna Lower.  He was raised in Aldine, TX and played football for Aldine High School, graduating in 1950.  Mr. Lower then joined the U.S. Navy and served on the USS Helena CA75 during the Korean War, being honorably discharged after four years.  He married Irma Charlene Gabbard on December 6, 1957 in Grand Prairie, TX.  The family soon thereafter moved to Southlake, TX where they raised their family.  Following a 30-year career as a machinist with Texas Instruments, Mr. Lower retired in 1990.  He enjoyed participating and watching many sports but absolutely loved to fish.  Mr. Lower was also an avid supporter of his children’s athletics.

Survivors include: wife of 63 years, Irma Charlene Lower of Valley View; son, Roger Lower and wife, Carlene Lower of McKinney, TX; son, Mitchell Lower and wife, Kim Lower of Allen, TX; granddaughter, Carson Lower; and granddaughter, Taylor Lower Blankenship and husband, Jackson Blankenship.

Mr. Lower was preceded in death by his parents.
