Donald Mode

Memorial services for Donald Oliver Mode, 90, of Era, are scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 27,2024 at the First Baptist Church of Era in Era, TX.

Mr. Mode passed away March 18, 2024, in Sanger, TX.

Don was born August 24, 1933, in Okawville, Illinois to Oliver Mode and Hilda Ruesse Mode.  He met the love of his life Patsy Speer at the Gainesville Skating Rink in 1953 and the two were married in March of the next year.  Don served in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in various parts of the country.  He and Pat settled in Era where they raised their children and lived for 47 years.  Don enjoyed many hobbies including making pens and birdhouses, raising goats, and planting trees and flowers.  Don also enjoyed working with the youth involved in FFA and his church youth program.  He was a beloved member of the Era Baptist Church where members were greeted by his smile and hug on Sunday mornings.

Survivors include daughter Deborah Rigsby of Gordonville, TX; son Tony Mode and wife Lalie of Austell, GA; nine grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren.  Don is also survived by family members Dennis Fuhrmann and wife Violet of Sanger TX.

Preceding Don in passing were his beloved wife, Patsy Mode; his parents Oliver and Hilda Mode; son Ronald Dale Mode; daughter Janet Marie Mode; and granddaughter Natalie Annette Mode.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Era Youth.
