Donna Sue Hocker

September 15, 1942 — August 22, 2023

Donna Sue Hocker of Gainesville, Texas went to be with her Lord in Heaven early Tuesday morning August 22nd.

She was born Donna Sue Bagley to Loyd and Icie Mae Bagley in Frederick, Oklahoma September the 15th, 1942.  She had 9 siblings, Billie Jo Bagley (died at 2 mos.), Henry Bagley, Bennie Bagley, Cletus Wayne Bagley, Jackie Bagley Smith, Loretta Bagley Boyd, Randall Bagley, Linda Bagley and Kenneth Bagley.

She had four children.  Janet Liegh Steed (died at birth), Robert Lee Steed, Jack Wesley “Hoss” Steed and Tracy Lynn Haus.

She had 13 Grandchildren.  Elya Whitten and husband John, Caleb Steed and wife Julie, Joshua Steed and wife Stormy, Hannah Steed and husband Deepan, Joanna Steed, Lydia Reed, Wesley Reed, Martha Steed, Gabe Young, Stevie Haus, Joslyn Haus, Jordan Haus and Talia Haus.  She had 14 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by daughter Janet Liegh Steed, her mother and father, her sisters Billy Jo Bagley, Loretta Bagley, Jackie Bagley, Linda Bagley and brothers Henry Bagley, Bennie Bagley, Randall Bagley, a sister-in-law Janetta Bagley and a brother-in-law Dee Boyd, one niece Melanie Smith and two nephews Stuart Bagley and Joseph Bagley.

Donna is survived by her husband John Robert “Don” Hocker, a lifetime resident of Gainesville and they were married for 35 years and were deeply committed to one another.

Donna was a hair-dresser for 40 years and as a result has good friends all over north Texas from Gainesville to Vernon.  She is a born again Christian and loved reading and studying her Bible. She loved the Lord and loved music, particularly Gospel, Conservative Politics, little scroungy dogs that need homes, and she was also an avid reader, sometimes devouring several books per week.  She liked making silk flower arrangements, taking care of her many house plants, family reunions, holidays and loved her family members and children and grand-children more than she loved life itself.

A graveside “Going Home” service, provided by Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home of Gainesville, will be held at Fairview Cemetery on Friday, August 25th at 10:00 am.   Officiating will be Don Allen Steed of Hot Springs, Arkansas.
