Donnie Ray Trammell

November 23, 1947 — January 7, 2025

Donnie Ray Trammell, 77, a loving and devoted husband, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend went to be with the lord on Jan. 7, 2025.  He passed away peacefully in his home in Callisburg, Texas.

Donnie was born on November 23, 1947, to Albert Trammell and Katherine Hughes.  He attended Elementary and middle school at Gainesville ISD before his family moved to Callisburg; where he finished out his high school years at Callisburg ISD, and Graduated class of 1966.  He married the love of his life, Joyce Ann Miller later that summer on July 25th.  They were blessed to celebrate 58 wonderful years together.

Donnie had a very strong work ethic. He was known for his unwavering dedication and commitment to every job or task that he had took on. He was a jack of all trades and there was nothing that he could not fix. He worked most of his life in the oilfield business, starting as a roughneck, to using his excellent welding skills building fishing tools, and fisherman at Weatherford and a manager for DotCo. He ended his career as a pumper for Bend Petroleum and retired in 2016.

Donnie was extremely proud to be a member of Gainesville Masonic Lodge NO. 210 and Gainesville chapter OES NO. 1123 for the past 29 years. This was another area of his life where he strived for excellence and true dedication with each position he held within the lodge. He cherished the masonic brotherhood, not only with his 3 brothers, several nephews, grandsons, and son-in-law, but with all his fellow brethren.

Donnie will most be remembered for his deep love and devotion to all his family and friends. He had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel welcomed and included. He was one to never meet a stranger and found tremendous joy in helping others. He used every moment with friends and loved ones to pass along skills, wisdom, a good joke, or even your occasional card or coin trick.

Of all his accomplishments, he took the most pride in the close and loving family he and Joyce created. He was the happiest being home on his farm tending to his cows and making improvements to his land. When his health did not allow him to be outside you would find him cracking pecans or playing and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, which brought him the most joy.

Donnie is preceded in death by his parents Albert and Katherine Trammell, Brother and Sister-in-law Jimmy and Dorthey Trammell, Sister Patsy Hill, Sister-in-law Glenda (Kookie) Trammell, Brother-in-law Don Evans, and Father-in-law Earl Miller.
