Dorothy Ross Brooks, 99, passed away on March 13, 2025, at Wheeler Terrace in Gainesville, TX, where she had resided for six years.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Douglas Brooks. She was a member of Westlawn Baptist Church in Texarkana and a life-long Missionary Baptist. She was a devoted wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and great-grandmother. She dearly loved her church family.
After naval service in WW2, she and Douglas settled in Texarkana and lived there together until his death in 2014. In 2019 she moved to Wheeler Terrace community to be closer to her family, who lovingly cared for her until her death. Dorothy was the ultimate homemaker. She loved to cook, bake and look after her family. She also enjoyed sewing, needlework and other crafts.
Dorothy is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Richard and Brenda of Valley View, TX; three grandchildren: Ross Brooks, Phillip Brooks and Lesley Brooks; one great-granddaughter, Savannah Savage-Brooks; two nieces: Mazie Sue Higgins (Dalton) and Carol Goodwin (Ed).

Memorial Services for Douglas and Dorothy will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at Westlawn Missionary Baptist Church in Texarkana. Family visitation will be held at 12:30, just prior to the service. Inurnment at Memorial Gardens will be for family only. In lieu of flowers, please make memorials in their honor to your favorite charity.
