Dorothy John Cook

February 18, 1933 — September 18, 2022

Dorothy John Richardson Cook, age 89, of Gainesville, Texas, passed away at her home on September 18, 2022.  She was born in Rosston, Texas on February 18, 1933 to Forrest and Angelina (Links) Raney.  She attended Ross-Point and Era schools. She retired from working at the Nocona Boot Outlet Store.  She loved traveling and watching the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers.

Mrs. Cook was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Harold Conway Cook, her siblings Helen Cochran, and Sam, Ed, and Roy Raney, and grandson Mark Bayer.

Dorothy is survived by brothers Jim and Cecil Raney, sisters Shirley Ann Miller of Mineola, Sue LeGault of Lakewood, CA, Evelyn Henderson of Weatherford, and Billie Ferrell of Gainesville; sister-in-law Shirley Raney of Gainesville; sons Herbert and Don Richardson of Rosston, and daughters Jo Ann Pagel and Norma Jean Bayer of Muenster.  She also survived by step-sons Greg Cook of Nocona and Alan Cook of Gainesville, and step-daughters Susan Hermes of Muenster and Diane Palya of Gainesville; dozens of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Services for Mrs. Cook will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, September 23, 2022 at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Chapel.  A visitation will follow.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Rosston Cemetery Association, PO Box 13, Rosston, TX 76263.
