Dortha "Dot" Dean Leach 92 of Gainesville Texas passed away Friday July 2, 2021 at her home in Gainesville Texas surrounded by family and loved ones.
Dot was born December 14, 1928 to Arthur L. Smith and Lovie Christine Head of Gainesville, Texas. She grew up in Gainesville and graduated GHS at the top 2% of her class. She moved to Virginia and settled in Woodbridge, where she began her career with the Atlantic Research Corporation joining the Teleproducts Division where by retirement she was the highest-level female executive as Vice-President of Shipping & Receiving and Accounting. After her retirement, Dot returned to her home state of Texas where she married the love of her life Lloyd Leach.
Dot enjoyed family gatherings and overseeing the upkeep of her yard and flowers. She was always there for anyone needing help with their book-keeping and assisted more than a few with their taxes. She helped Lloyd with his crafts as they prepared for shows and sales, and thoroughly enjoyed a good garage sale. Dot was an avid reader who loved the thrilling Who Done Its, and was a never-ending fan of her Story "Days of Our Lives". She will be truly missed.
Dot was preceded in death by her mother and father, siblings John Smith, A.D. Smith, Elsie Kardara, Joyce Briley, Billy Smith, Teddy Smith, Neita Hall, and Roy Allen Gray. Daughter Gayna Lee Ensey, and granddaughter Sonja Christine Boatwright.
She is survived by her husband Lloyd Leach; brother David Smith and wife Virginia; daughter Brenda Fain, step-children Debra & Shaun Russell, Lovey & Robert Bumpass, and Belinda Leach, son-in-law Byron Ensey; grandchildren Rick & Monica Gow, Chad & Jacqueline Briley, Bobby & Candice Pinkstaff, Stephanie Pinkstaff, Robbie Lynn & DeForest Fuller, and Mindy & Jason Thomas: along with numerous nieces, nephews, and great grandchildren.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Wednesday, July 6, 2021 at the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery under the direction of the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home. A visitation will be held at the funeral home 6:00 PM Tuesday, July 5, 2021.
