Eddie Frank Morris (83) went to his eternal reward on June 2, 2024. He is preceded in death by his wife, Patsy, his brother, Bobby Morris, and his parents, Letha and Robert Lee Morris. He is survived by his children, Brenda Schlomach (Byron), Ron Morris (Jennifer) and Cathy Morris Rodriguez; 7 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and many cousins, nieces, nephews and other close friends and family who will miss him.
He was born October 28, 1940 in Gainesville, TX and grew up in and around Gainesville. In high school, he met the love of his life, Patsy Schneider, who he married in 1961. When she started fading due to Alzheimer’s, he made it his whole life to take care of her, and did so faithfully until she died in January, 2023. He truly showed what it means to love “in sickness and in health.” He also set a high bar and an excellent example for us all with his integrity and honesty.
Eddie was an educator his entire professional life, starting as a coach at Gainesville High School and ending as a principal at Gainesville High School. In between, he spent 26 years as coach, counselor and principal in Archer City ISD. He was a firm disciplinarian and a stickler for rules, but he cared deeply for his players, students and co-workers. Nothing pleased him more than to hear from a former player or coach.
Eddie was a member of First United Methodist Church of Gainesville. Even though in his last years he was unable to attend services, he maintained his faith by watching sermons on TV and reading his Bible regularly. He appreciated the church bringing communion to him at home and keeping in contact.A celebration of Eddie’s life will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2024 at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home. The family will begin receiving friends at 1:00 p.m. and the service will begin at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Shriner's Hospital or the Alzheimer’s Association.
