Elfreda Pearl Smith

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Elfreda Pearl (Stoll) Smith on September 19, 2024 surrounded by her family in Gainesville, Texas at the age of 87.

Elfreda was born to Daniel and Hanna (Fischer) Stoll on the family farm in Indiahoma, OK on July 2, 1937. She graduated from Indiahoma High School in 1955. She married her high school sweetheart, William Robert (Bob) Smith on September 14, 1957. Together, they had three children, Robert Mitchell, Pamela Sue, and William Daniel.

Elfreda was a stay-at-home mother and wife for many years. She and her family moved to Gainesville, TX  in 1960 where she and Bob started an independent insurance agency together. Elfreda would be in the insurance business until retirement. She was dedicated to work and established strong and lasting bonds with her many customers. Elfreda owned the H.M. Powell Agency after decades of working there. She most enjoyed spending time with her large, extended family and her friends. She was an active member of Whaley United Methodist Church and many civic organizations including The Jayceettes, Soroptimist International, Beta Sigma Phi, and Habitat for Humanity.

She is preceded in death by her son Robert Mitchell Smith, her mother and father, and siblings Raymond Stoll, Vera Allen, Ruben Stoll, Shirley Buchwald and sister-in-law, Dolores Stoll. She is survived by her children Pam Nickerson and William Smith, grandchildren Jonathan Wiginton, Chelsie Clark, Taylor Easley, Hannah Smith and Chloe Smith, great-granddaughters Collins and Kennedy Clark and Baby Easley, her brother Dan Stoll, Jr., sisters-in law, Mary Jane Roberts, Pat Stoll, Bobbie Stoll and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 21 at 11:00 am at Whaley United Methodist Church in Gainesville TX with reception to follow. Burial service will take place on Sunday, September 22 at 3:00 pm at the IOOF Cemetery in Indiahoma, OK.
