Ethan D. Matthews

Funeral services for Ethan D. Matthews, 26, of Gainesville, will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, February 22, 2018 at the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Hollis Parsons officiating.  Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery.  A visitation is scheduled from 6:30 to 8:30 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.

Ethan passed away on February 17, 2018 from an auto accident.  He was born February 18, 1991 in Gainesville, to Tracy McCarroll and Marcus Matthews.

Ethan loved spending time with family and friends.  He enjoyed fishing and the outdoors.  Ethan spent many years working at a young age beside his father in a family owned business.  He was a beautiful son, a loving father and a caring friend.

Ethan is survived by his two sons, Isaac Daniel Matthews and Hayden Cole Matthews both of Whitesboro; mother Tracy McCarroll of Gainesville; father Marcus Matthews and wife Lynda of Gainesville; sisters Macy McCarroll of Gainesville, Magen Rankin of Missouri, and Mandy Mertel of Oklahoma; brother Logan Rankin of Oklahoma; grandmothers Margie Matthews of Gainesville, Jackie Yeaton of Preo, Maine , and Samye Ballard of Whitesboro.  Missing him will also be his aunts, uncles, cousins, and many loving friends.

Ethan was preceded in death by his great-grandparents Ima Ray and Darvis L. Bowles, cousin and best friend Victoria Kennedy, grandmother Suzanne St. Pierre, all of Gainesville and grandfather James Ballard.
