Evelyn Jones Barbour

Funeral services for Evelyn Barbour, 84, of Valley View, are scheduled for 2:00 PM on Thursday, May 14, 2020, at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Hollis Parsons officiating.  Interment will follow at New Hope Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 6:00 PM on Wednesday, May 13 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Barbour passed away May 11, 2020 in Valley View.

Evelyn was born November 6, 1935 in Gunter to Daniel Floyd and Myrtle Gertrude (Long) Jones.  She married Donald Crowson Barbour, Sr. on May 5, 1956 in Gainesville.  Mrs. Barbour was a skilled homemaker and grateful mother of four.  She enjoyed camping, fishing, playing 42, and attending musical events and sing-alongs.  Mrs. Barbour was a proud member of Tabernacle Baptist Church.

Survivors include: husband of 64 years, Don Barbour, Sr. of Valley View; daughter Darlene Mantei and husband Kevin of Sanger; son Donald Barbour, Jr. and partner Alecia Williams of Valley View; son James Barbour and partner Angela Smith of Burneyville, OK; daughter Dee Ann Brown and husband Darrell of Valley View; 14 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; sister Anne Perkins and husband Wayne “Perk” of Mesquite; and numerous beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Mrs. Barbour was preceded in death by: parents Dan and Myrtle Jones; sister Dannie Mae Carr; and niece Nickie Denise Carr.

Serving as pallbearers are: John Barbour, Darrell Brown, Jr., Justin Brown, Colton Barbour, Andrew Fleming, and Tommy Fleming.
