James Farral Phelps, 55, of Gainesville, TX, passed away December 19, 2023 in Gainesville.

Farral was born September 17, 1968 to James Gilbert Phelps Sr. and Linda Gail (Mitchell) Phelps in McKinney, TX.  He attended Central Christian Academy in Whitesboro, TX.  He was a painter and remodeler.  Farral had worked for Taylor Tank, Graves Painting and Remodeling, and Facility Services most recently.  He loved working with his cattle and tinkering with machinery.

Survivors include: daughter Farran Daneile Phelps of Gainesville; brother Jimmy Gilbert Phelps, Jr. and wife Daretha, nieces, great-nieces, and great-nephews of Leonard, TX; and ex-wife/friend Dana Kay Earl.  Farral was predeceased by his parents and grandparents.

A funeral service is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 26, 2023, at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home, Gainesville.  Interment will follow at Melissa Cemetery, Melissa, TX.  The family will receive friends prior to the funeral service, beginning at 12:30 p.m.
