Jimmy David Jones

Jimmy David Jones was born on July 24, 1936 in Celina, TX within Collin County.  He was the oldest of 3 brothers.  Jimmy Jones, Leslie Oneth Jones and Dan Jones lived in and around Celina and Gainesville for their formative years.  Jimmy graduated from Gainesville High School and then attended the Junior College in Gainesville, now referred to as North Central Texas College where he met Naomi Ruth Remley.  Jimmy went into the Navy and was stationed in Oceanside, CA.  Jim married Ruth and they had two children, David and Terry while living in California.

Once out of the Navy they moved to Houston for a few years before settling in Farmers Branch, TX in 1963 and divorcing in 1965.

Jimmy moved to Garland, TX on Axe Street where he met and married his next-door neighbor Carolyn Ruyle on Oct 10, 1968.  They remained married until Carolyn’s passing.

Jim was preceded in death by his wife Carolyn on Oct. 3, 2011.  He was also preceded in death by his brother Leslie Oneth Jones and 4 grandchildren, Tom and Marcus Jones, Leslie David Jones (named after his great-grandfather Squint) and Jennifer Nicole (Nikki) Jones.

Jimmy is survived by his brother Dan and Vicki Jones of Douglasville, GA; son David Marcus Jones and wife Sherrill; daughter Terry and husband Greg Hefner; grandson Trevor Jones and his wife Kalynne, as well as grandson Cory Jones and his fiancé Jasmine; great-grandchildren:  Ka-lee Owens, J. T. Waltenburg, Maddie Coker and Flynn Jones followed by great-great-grandchild Renye Owens-Anteliz.

Services for Mr. Jones include a visitation to be held on Wednesday April 10, 2024 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home.  The funeral is scheduled for 10:00 AM Thursday at the funeral home officiated by Rev. Hollis Parsons.  A graveside service will follow at 2:00 PM in Grove Hill Memorial Park in Dallas.
