Frank J. Krebs, Jr.

April 23, 1934 — December 18, 2024

Frank J. Krebs, Jr. was born in Tishomingo Oklahoma on April 23, 1934 to Frank and Regina (Metzler) Krebs Sr.  After Lake Texoma was built, the family had to move and settled on a farm south of Gainesville.  Frank attended St Mary’s school and was a member of the last class to graduate high school from there.  While in high school, when Frank wasn’t doing chores on the family farm, he would work at the Hoedebeck Dairy before and after school.

After graduation, Frank briefly attended Cooke County Junior College before entering the US Army in October 1954 and served two years stateside and overseas before being honorably discharged in September 1956.  Upon his return, he went to work for National Supply in Gainesville and resumed his college studies at North Texas State University.  On May 8, 1957 at St Mary’s Church, Frank married his high school sweetheart Dorothy Luttmer.  They made their home in Gainesville for several years and had three children.  Frank graduated from NTSU in 1963 with a BBA.  They bought a farm west of Gainesville and moved there in October 1963.  He and Dorothy worked hard, managing to pay off the farm in a very short time.

Frank continued to work for National Supply for 50+ years, working both in the plant and the front office in purchasing.  Over that time period, he made many life-long friends.  He referred to farming as his hobby but spent many long hours working the land and tending to his cattle.  He eventually expanded his operation purchasing another farm and leasing another, all while working for National Supply.  Frank instilled his hard work ethic in his children and grandchildren, teaching them how to drive tractors, mend fence, haul hay, and work cattle.

Frank rarely rested, but when he did, he enjoyed traveling with his wife Dorothy and their siblings.  They traveled around visiting all 50 states, Canada, Mexico, Europe, and the Caribbean.  They also enjoyed dancing together at weddings, New Year’s Eve, and other celebrations.  They also worked a big garden for the family to enjoy.

Frank retired from National Supply when he was 74.  He continued his farming and ranching.  He loved spending time with his family, hosting holiday and birthday gatherings.  He and Dorothy enjoyed retirement together until her passing on January 3, 2016.  He was an active member of St Mary’s Catholic Church, ACTS group, member of the Knights of Columbus, and a founding board member of Nascoga Credit Union.

Frank passed peacefully from this world to be with his heavenly Father with family by his side on December 18, 2024 after a 7-yr battle from his stroke.  Survivors include:  son Mark (Terry) Krebs of Gainesville, daughter Kim Walterscheid of Muenster, son Gregg Krebs and fiancée Cindy Lee of Lindsay; grandchildren:  Aaron (Becca) Krebs, Austin Krebs, Gayle (Chris) Bevers, Justin (Brooke) Walterscheid, Emily (Daniel) Fuhrmann, Adam Krebs, Taylor Krebs; great-grandchildren:  Waylon, Ella, Ardon, Camden, Ethan, Caleb, Kylee, Colt, Laney, Darcy, Hadley, Kate, Lily, & Daniel; sister-in-law Eileen Krebs; numerous nieces and nephews.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents; wife Dorothy; brothers:  Dillard, Eugene, and Leon Krebs; sisters:  Mildred Hoedebeck, Darlene Wolff, Eunice Wolf, and Doris Kuhn.
