Franklin C. Liedtke, 90, of Gainesville, TX. passed away Saturday, March 23, 2024, in Gainesville.
Frank was born December 1, 1933 in Cosefield, TX to Elmore L. and Marie F Liedtke. The family moved to Gainesville when Frank was 10 years old. He was a graduate of Gainesville High School, Class of 1951. He also was a graduate of Gainesville Junior College in 1953 and a graduate of North Texas College of Denton in 1955.
Mr. Liedtke proudly served in the United States Army from 1955 to 1958. Upon leaving the military, he returned home to take over Liedtke Motor Co. from his father. As a young boy, he and his 3 brothers grew up on the car lot doing chores and were selling cars as teenagers. Frank sold his first car, a 1936 Chevrolet, at the age of 13. He and his brother Bob retired and closed the car business in 2006 after 59 years.
Frank married Laverna Estes in July 1986 in Las Vegas. They each had 4 grown children and enjoyed the many holidays and family celebrations. Being with Papa and Honey at their home, the cabin at North Lake or the farm, always brought lots of fun and laughter. He loved his family very much.
Mr. Liedtke and Laverna’s church family was Westminster Presbyterian Church where Frank served as a Deacon for several years. In more recent years they attended Temple Baptist Church. He was also a member of The American Legion where he served as Treasurer.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers William and Jimmy Liedtke, his daughter Pamela Turner Womack, his son Billy Liedtke, his bonus son Randall Estes, his grandson Andrew Liedtke and brothers-in-law Allen Eberhart and Jackie Richardson.
Mr. Liedtke is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Laverna Liedtke; daughters Viki Giddens (Robert) of Bedford, TX, LaNelle Green of Gainesville; bonus sons, Steve Estes (Rene) of Kalama, WA, Kyle Estes (Debbie) of Granbury TX, Glenn Ray Estes(Tawny) of Gainesville; daughter-in-law Kathy Estes Wann (Roger) of Poteau, OK; brother Bobby Liedtke (Glenda) of Gainesville; sisters-in-law Barbara Liedtke and Wanda Liedtke, Rachel Eberhart and Sandy Richardson; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; along with special friends Karen Estes, Andy and Kelly Crow, and Ricky Allen.
The family will be forever grateful to Heart to Heart Hospice and Nicolette and Robin for their very special care of Frank in his final days. Our love and hearts to The Wesley House and their wonderful staff for the love shown and care given in the last few months.
Frank will be laid to rest in Fairview Cemetery at a later date with a private ceremony.
