Fred Bradley

March 15, 1933 — September 13, 2018

Frederick Conroy Bradley, 85, of Lake Kiowa, passed away quietly at home, September 13, 2018, with his wife, son and Heart to Heart Hospice Care.  He had been ill for 1 and ½ yrs with Congestive Heart Failure and Dementia.

Fred was born March 15, 1933 in San Antonio, TX to C.R. “Red” and Ethelyne (Lea) Bradley.  Mr. Bradley, a native of San Antonio, TX spent his younger years in Hattiesburg and Jackson, MS.  He graduated from Central High School in Jackson and attended Miss. Southern College, now The University of Southern Miss., in Hattiesburg.  He was a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason and long-time member of Hella Shrine Temple.

He served with the Air Defense Command, U.S. Air Force, and the Air Force Reserve during the Korean War.  Upon returning to civilian life, he was involved some twenty odd years in the Trucking Industry, in various positions.  Upon retiring from the Motor Carrier Industry, he owned and operated a Retail Hobby Shop, a small Construction business and finished his colorful career operating a Computer Service Business, Klassic Computers, serving the Lake Kiowa community building, repairing and updating computers, in which he was involved until his death.  Along with this endeavor, he and several close Kiowa friends founded and organized the Lake Kiowa Computer Club in the year 2000 and he remained very active in this Club.  He and Dottie formed many new friendships, was active in The Lake Kiowa Supper Club and other Kiowa functions.  In 2010, Fred was elected to be the National President of the Gulf, Mobile & Ohio Railroad Historical Society.

Fred met and married a widow, Dorothy Marie Haddock, on September 30, 1988.  She was a mother of four children.  Fred and Dottie moved from Dallas, TX to Lake Kiowa to care for Dottie’s mother, Belle Covington, an early settler of Lake Kiowa.  Grandchildren came along; he was a terrific Grandpa and Great-Grandpa to all of his beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Fred was preceded in death by his father and mother, C.R. “Red” Bradley, former Commissioner of Public Safety for the State of Mississippi, and Ethelyne Lea Bradley, both of Hattiesburg, Miss.

Mr. Bradley is survived by his wife, Dorothy Marie Bradley of Lake Kiowa; one brother, Bradford Lea Bradley of Dallas; daughter, Margie Lynn Handrigan; four sons: Charles F. Bradley, William T. Bradley, John R. Bradley, and Michael Bradley; step-children: Debra Suzanne Fox, Kenneth Ray Haddock, Michael E. Haddock and David S. Haddock; 19 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life held at the Lake Kiowa Lodge will be scheduled for a later date.
