Graveside services for Fred Lawrence Camp Jr., 87, of Gainesville, is set for 3:30 PM Saturday, February 23, 3019 at the Fairview Cemetery under the direction of the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home. No visitation is planned.
Fred was born on December 13, 1931 in Gainesville to Fred Lawrence Camp Sr. and Fannie (Summers) Camp. He passed away on February 19, 2019 in Muenster.
Fred lived a full and committed life. He was a tank commander and Master Sargeant in the U.S. Army. He retired after 28 years of service. He was a Master Electrician and Plant Maintenance Manager of Valenite Corporation. Fred was on the Gainesville City Counsel, and loved to teach dance lessons.
He is survived by his wife Pamela Camp of Gainesville; son Michael Camp of Illinois; daughter Sissy Thornhill of Gainesville; daughter Melinda Freeman of Fort Worth; son Tim Camp and his wife Patty of Gainesville; daughter Tina Williams of Oak Ridge; son Donald Dawson and his wife Melissa of Celina, KS; son Cory Dawson and his wife Billie Jo of Sherman; grandchildren Cody Thornhill, Josh Thornhill, Lori Vandyke, Leeann Freeman, Tracy Sturgeon, April Pecora, Colt Williams, and Amber Williams; seven great-grandchildren; and brother Danny Camp and his wife Sue of Farmers Branch.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law Dickey Thornhill; sister Jeanette Haggard and her husband Leonard.
Pallbearers will be Cody Thornhill, Josh Thornhill, Colt Williams, Noah Pecora, Doug Vandyke, and Cory Dawson.
Memorial contributions may be made to a Masonic Lodge of your choice.
