A visitation for Fred Lewis Rosenbaum, 79, of Gainesville, will be held Friday, February 12, 2021 from 4:00 - 6:00 PM at the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home. A graveside service with military honors will be held at the DFW National Cemetery on Thursday, February 25, 2021 at 12:30 PM with Dr. Jeff Langley officiating.
Fred was born on March 20, 1941 in Altus, Oklahoma to Finis Rosenbaum and Lucille (Lewis) Rosenbaum. He passed away on February 8, 2020 in Bonham.
Fred retired as a Lt. Col. in the Army. He was awarded a Purple Heart in 1968 for an injury that occured in Vietnam. Fred was a member of the First Baptist Church in Gainesville and served as a Deacon for many years. He was a member of the VFW Post 1922, and active in the Lions Club.
He is survived by his wife Paula Rosenbaum of Gainesville; grandson Gabriel Alvarez of Gainesville; granddaughter Laura Alvarez of Gainesville; great-grandchildren Bentley Ashlock and Lylah Ashlock; brother Steve Rosenbaum of Fort Worth; and brother Ernest Rosenbaum of San Antonio.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Sandra Alvarez; and brother James Rosenbaum.
