Freddie William Neu

September 18, 1931 — February 28, 2021

Freddie William Neu, 89, of Gainesville, passed away February 28, 2021 in Denison, Texas.

Visitation will be at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home at 6:00 pm on Tuesday, March 2nd.

Funeral service will be at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, March 3rd at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Lindsay, Texas.  Burial will follow at St. Peter's cemetery.

Freddie was born in Myra, Texas on September 18, 1931 to Bill and Annie Bierschenk Neu.  He attended Lindsay school.  In 1952 he was inducted into the army and spent most of his time in Stanford, Germany where he visited again in 2015.  After he was discharged from the army he married Betty Luttmer.  To this union included 11 children.  Betty preceded him in death in 2004.

In 2006 Freddie married Rachel Whysong, the light of his life, adding 5 stepchildren and their families to his family.

He worked 3 jobs at a time most of his life.  After he was discharged from the army he went to work for National Supply; where he was employed for 33 years.  He also worked for Muenster Farm Mutual as a Secretary, then later became an Appraiser, and also served on the Board until 2007.  He farmed most of his life.  Freddie was also a man of all trades.  He did all the work in his rent houses and he built 3 houses for his grandkids when he was in his 80's.  He also raised a big garden with great pride.

Freddie loved to travel and he and Rachel traveled the world.  He loved to play Sequence, so he took the board game on all the trips, where he and Rachel would meet people who would become lifelong friends, with people all over the world.

Freddie’s siblings included his brother Elroy Neu and wife Pat, Leon Neu and wife Laquita, Virgil Neu and wife Susie, and sister Margie Zimmerer and husband Tom, and brother-in-law Frank Krebs.  Preceded in death his sister Ann Hess and brother-in-law Alfred Hess, and his sister-in-law Dorothy Krebs.

He is also survived by his wife Rachel, sons and wives:  Chris Neu and Laura, Ronnie Neu and Becky, Duane Neu and Danita, Danny Neu and Angel, Brad Neu and Amy, and Marty Neu and Jana.

Daughters and husbands:  Susan Fleitman and Kenny, Julie Curry and George, Brenda Metzler, and Sandra Massengale.

Stepchildren sons and wives:  Walter Schmidlkofer, and Butch Schmidlkofer and Doris

Daughters and husbands:  Darlene Williams and Jim, Charlene Donnelly and Barry, and son-in-law Pat Hacker.

He is also survived by 42 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren, and his special family Charles and Lynn Anger.

He was preceded in death by a daughter Pamela Neu, a stepdaughter Kathy Hacker, son-in-law Chris Metzler, two grandchildren, and a great grandchild.

The pallbearers are grandsons:  Derek Schmidlkofer, Bradley Schmidlkofer, William Hacker, Cody Donnelly, Clint Williams, and Migs Martinez.
