Eugene Paul Hoberer, 83, of Gainesville, passed away November 16, 2022.
Gene was born April 1, 1939 in Gainesville, the second of 11 children. He was as jovial as the day he was born on. He attended school in Era and married Waynell McGuire on November 7, 1966 in Corpus Christi, TX. Mr. Hoberer enjoyed his career in farm and ranch management and lived in Sivells Bend for almost 50 years. As an avid outdoorsman, he admired nature, observing deer and turkey, and fishing at every opportunity. Gene also enjoyed time with his grandchildren, car racing, casino trips, coin collecting, and was a skilled woodworker.
Mr. Hoberer was preceded in death by: parents John and Elizabeth (Arendt) Hoberer; daughter Pamela Hoberer; sister Joyce Nottingham; brother Edwin Hoberer; sister Sara Cooper; sister Sue Eades; and sister-in-law Judy Hoberer.
Survivors include: wife Waynell Hoberer of Gainesville; son Darrell Hoberer and wife Jennifer of Gainesville and children Brendan, Andrew, and Kayley; son Anthony Hoberer of Gainesville; son Mike Hoberer and wife Connie of Lindsay and children Scott and Alyssa; brother John Hoberer of Lindsay; brother Larry Hoberer and wife Connie of Gainesville; brother Tommy Hoberer and wife Pam of Lindsay; sister Barbara Wilmot of Tulsa, OK; sister Judy Fuhrmann and husband James of Lindsay; sister Karen Hoberer of Gainesville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends during a memorial visitation scheduled for 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 22 at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home. The family has requested that those attending wear a mask.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
