George Patrick Ware, Jr.

January 7, 1934 — September 20, 2024

Funeral services for George Patrick Ware, Jr., 90, of Gainesville, are scheduled for 11:00 AM on Tuesday, September 24, 2024 at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Chapel with Joe Ware officiating.  Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery.  There will be no formal visitation.

George Patrick Ware, Jr. was born January 7, 1934 in Gainesville, TX to George P. Ware, Sr. and Grace Roe Carson.  He passed away September 20, 2024 at Baylor Scott & White Heart Hospital in Denton, TX.

George attended school in Gainesville and graduated from Callisburg High School and was one class short of receiving his Bachelor's degree.  He was a member of the Commerce Church of Christ for 50 years.

Mr. Ware began working as a newspaper delivery boy at age 11 and worked in the oil fields until suffering major injuries from a 29 ft. fall off of an oil derrick.  After recovering from those injuries, he went on to become the quality control manager at Victor Equipment Company in Denton.  While working in Denton, he started the welding program at Cooke County Junior College.  He taught welding and industrial math courses for many years.  When Peterbilt Trucking began construction on its production facilities in Denton, he was hired as the Training Coordinator.  He took great pride in teaching every new employee how to do their job.  He had a love for photography and was tapped by Peterbilt to be its official photographer.  For many years, if you saw a photo of a Peterbilt truck, it was most likely his photo.  Even while working at Peterbilt, he would teach welding and math courses in the evenings at Cooke County College.

George is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Carla and Mickey Underhill of Denton; son William C. (Billy) Ware of Mena, AR; son and daughter-in-law Joe and Tammy Ware of McAlester, OK; former daughter-in-law Sandy and her husband Allen Snowden; 11 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Glenda Fuller of Gainesville; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Bill and Martha Maughan of Valley View; long-time friend and neighbor of 50 years Jerry Joslin; his good friend Chuck Salisbury; his eating crew at Trails Inn; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Ware was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Marie Jewett; daughter Sharon Kay Ware-Harrison; son-in-law Bill Harrison; son-in-law Larry Monden; parents George, Sr. and Grace Ware; great-granddaughter Megan Michele Monden; sister Iris Miller Isaacs; brother Joe K. Ware; brother-in-law Dennis Fuller.

His sons and grandsons will be serving as pallbearers.
