Glenn Alan Mauldin, age 70, of Gainesville, TX, passed away November 19, 2024, in Denton, TX.
Glenn was born on July 15, 1954 to William (Bill) Howard Mauldin and Ruby Jewel Morgan in Gainesville, Texas. Glenn was the only child to be born between Bill and Ruby, although he had four other siblings from his Dad, and three other siblings from his Mom, each from previous marriages.
From a young age, all the children in the family looked to Glenn as a leader, almost as much as all the siblings always sought to protect Glenn. It would be fair to say that Glenn's biggest protector was his oldest sister, Barbra. With 8 children in the home and two parents that worked multiple jobs, it's easy to see why Barbra was so protective of Glenn. She was the oldest, and Glenn was the youngest! She was 6 and a half when he was born and she became Mom #2 in a sense! Glenn grew on women's hearts from an early age as Barbra nicknamed him "Punkin". No one else ever got the privilege of calling him Punkin either! Glenn grew into a young man in his adolescent years, he wound up being known as the "strong kid". That strong kid had to bail his older brothers out of a few skirmishes long ago, but his brothers seemed to always remember it differently.
Glenn was a member of the class of 1973 at Gainesville High School. Post High School brought many adventures for young Glenn. He spent a big part of his time developing his passion for building hot rods, specifically Chevrolets and GM vehicles. You couldn't ever find him on the drag without a 4 speed and a Big Block Chevy! This passion never left Glenn throughout his entire life as he went on to have over 30+ cool cars and trucks in his life! He also used this time to play in many local bands and attend as many rock concerts as his schedule allowed.
Glenn spent many years working, attaining his first job as a gas station attendant at 13, working in the oilfield and Southland Paint in his 20s, Oak Creek mobile homes as Production Supervisor in his 30s, and going onto to work for very prestigious companies such as Boeing, Nokia, and most recently Safran in his late 30s through his 70th birthday.
While employed with Boeing, Glenn was an Engineering Technical Specialist who worked hand in hand with the Military/NASA division building very complex wiring harnesses for the International Space Station, B-52 Bombers, B-2 Bomber, and many other attack aircraft for the United States Military. He gained notoriety for his technical mindset, acquiring many written thanks from notable astronauts at NASA, as well as high ranking officials in the U.S. Military. Glenn truly received the most job satisfaction from Boeing. Glenn was a patriot in every sense of the word, and had a very deep love, appreciation, and admiration of the United States of America.
Using these skills that he honed at Boeing, Glenn's journey took him to Nokia Mobile Phones where he was an Automation Engineer. He loved this company and visited many countries all over the world. Finally, his last place of employment was Safran in Gainesville where he was a Liaison Engineer with his great friends Tom McNamara and Glenn Kyle, both from Gainesville.
Glenn loved deeply in his life, and his three biggest loves were the Lord Jesus Christ, His family, and classic cars.
Glenn was baptized into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints when he was 8 years old. He devoted his entire life to serving the Lord Jesus Christ in every facet. Glenn held many callings within the Church, such as Ward Clerk, Elder's Quorum President, Scoutmaster, Executive Secretary, and most recently 2nd Counselor to Bishop David Barnett in the Gainesville Ward to name a few. He was most recently ordained a High Priest by Roger Woodruff of the Gainesville Ward. Glenn knows perfectly how he fits into the Lord's plan for all of us, and always mentioned about how refreshing it must be to pass on and move to the next chapter in one's Eternal Journey. He anxiously awaits his loved ones he leaves behind, but has embraced the wonderful family reunion in Paradise.
Glenn had his first Son, Stephen Chance Mauldin, on October 25, 1979. Glenn's only other Son, Beau Tevin Mauldin, came on January 20, 1994. He loved his Sons more than life itself, which probably explains why they were both "Daddy's boys". He always said his favorite job was being a Dad, but he wishes it paid a little better! His Sons are currently very devoted members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and seek to continue their Father's legacy of being a stalwart disciple of Jesus Christ. It is pretty big shoes to fill, so good luck boys! They both reside in Gainesville with their families of their own.
Glenn married the absolute love of his life, Judy Ann Johnson on July 15, 2011 in Gainesville, Texas. Yes, you read that right, he had to get married on his birthday because he was so bad remembering dates! Glenn and Judy had almost everything in common! Whether it was their shared love of their Lord and Savior, a beautiful white and sandy beach, or good classic rock, you could always find them having the time of their lives. Judy brought two wonderful Daughters of her own, Krissy and JayLynn to Glenn's life, which he loved, cherished, and protected just as if they were his very own.
Glenn was strong, kind, loyal, honest, hardworking, faithful, a magnificent disciple of Jesus Christ, and the absolute best Dad and Husband the world has ever known.
Glenn was preceded in death by parents Bill & Ruby Mauldin; brothers Wayne Mauldin and Larry Mauldin; and Sister Brenda Borden.
He is survived by his siblings Barbra DeVeau and Husband Ron DeVeau of Edmond, Oklahoma; Sister Debbie Williams of Nocona, Texas; Sister Joyce Lewis of Corsicana, Texas; and Sister Cathy Shaw of Erie, Pennsylvania.
He is also survived by his wife Judy Mauldin of Gainesville, Texas; Son Beau and his wife Jordan of Gainesville, Texas; Son Stephen and his wife Tiana of Gainesville, Texas; Daughters Krissy Dunn of Saint Jo, Texas; Daughter JayLynn Gordon and Husband DJ Gordon from Forestburg, Texas; Grandchildren Hope Mauldin, Hailey Mauldin, Zander Mauldin, Ramsey Mauldin, Ginger Mauldin, Cooper Mauldin, Phoenix Mauldin, Kaegan Anderson, Alec Anderson, Layla Sampson, Lyrik Ellison, Lincoln Gordon, and Leo Gordon; and Great-Grandchild Elliana Mauldin
