Greg Briones

Gregory M. Briones, age 76, of Gainesville, lost his battle with cancer on August 13, 2020.  At his request, Greg will be cremated and his ashes inurned near family members in Southwest Missouri.  A private graveside memorial will be held by immediate family members. No services are planned for Gainesville.

Greg was the former owner of James Boot & Shoe Repair, Gainesville.  He was born May 13, 1944 in Oklahoma City, OK - seventh out of ten children born to their mother.  Greg was of the Catholic faith.  Greg’s work in boot and shoe repair started in 1964.  During his career, he managed and worked in shops located in Titusville, FL; Detroit, MI; Joplin, MO; San Francisco, CA; and Gainesville, TX.

Motorcycles were part of Greg’s adult life, always a Harley Davidson bike!  His last bike, a full-dress 1993 Harley Davidson ElectraGlide Classic, (Purchased at the world’s oldest Harley Davidson dealership- Dudley Perkins, San Francisco) was sold ( Nov 14, 1998) and the proceeds used to purchase James Boot & Shoe Repair in Gainesville (Greg became owner of the Gainesville business on Jan 1999)!

Survivors include three sisters: Naomi Harding-Callahan,Broken Arrow, OK; Alice (Bruce) Cram, Oceanside, CA; June (Larry) Thomazin, Walnut Grove, MO; two brothers: Thomas (Glenda) Felts, Riverton, KS; and Vic (Penny) Nance, Pea Ridge, AR.  There is also a host of nieces and nephews.

Preceding Greg in death were his parents, three brothers and one sister.
