Gregg Alan McDonald, also known as “Big Mac”, was the son of Letha Lea McDonald and the late Mervyn Gene “Mac” McDonald. He was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on January 9, 1956 and attended the public schools in Pleasanton, Texas. He was a graduate of Howard Payne University in Brownwood, Texas with a Bachelor of Business Administration, majoring in marketing and minoring in business. Gregg began work in the oil field industry in the 1980s and continued this passion until his passing.
At an early age, Gregg professed his faith in Jesus Christ and continued to follow Him until he was called to his Heavenly home. Gregg met the love of his life, Tammy, at Fairview Baptist Church of Levelland, Texas in 1988. After a short six-week courtship, Gregg and Tammy wed on July 22, 1988. Gregg was blessed with four children: Travis Tuttle, Justin McDonald, David Wilson and Hope Wilson.
Growing up, Gregg had a passion for sports, especially basketball. In high school he was known as the “Golden Boy”. He was most proud of his portrayal of a Russian bottle dancer in the play “Fiddler on the Roof” and liked to tell the story often.
If you knew Gregg, you knew he had the gift of gab. He did not know a stranger and spoke to anyone, anywhere, about anything. He loved to laugh and tell jokes, even if he missed the punch line by five minutes.
Family meant the world to Gregg. Along with four children, he was the proud grandparent of three amazing grandchildren who gave him the endearing name of “Big Mac”.
Gregg McDonald passed away on January 3rd at his home with his beloved wife by his side. He is preceded in death by his father Mervyn “Mac” McDonald. His beautiful life will be carried on and cherished in the lives of his wife, Tammy McDonald of Gainesville, Texas; his children, Travis Tuttle of New Hope, Minnesota, Justin McDonald of Virginia Beach, Virginia, David Wilson and wife, Chelsea of Muenster, Texas, and Hope Wilson of Denver, Colorado; grandchildren, Bentley, Haizley and Gentry Wilson of Muenster, Texas; his mother, Letha McDonald of Corpus Christi, Texas; his brother, Eric McDonald, wife, Carrie and three children of Robstown, Texas; his sister, Elaine Thedford, husband, Jon Thedford and five children of Fort Worth, Texas as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
