Harlon Cleburn Powers

Harlon Powers, 76, of Gainesville, passed away July 5, 2021 in Gainesville.

Harlon was born May 26, 1945 in Wilson, OK to John Lincoln and Peggy Marie (Smith) Powers.  He married Frances Baldree on October 31, 1964 in Aspermont, TX.  Mr. Powers retired following 36 years of service with the Texas Department of Transportation.  When his health allowed, he enjoyed riding horses, motorcycles, camping, and fishing.  Most recently, Mr. Powers treasured his time spent with family.

Survivors include: wife, Frances Powers of Gainesville; daughter, Gina Wiley and husband, Mark of Era; son, Terry Powers of Gainesville; son, Garry Powers of Denton; grandchildren: Jamie Evans and wife, Jamie of Philadelphia, PA, John Evans of Gainesville, Kade Powers of Denton, and Lauren Powers of Denton; great-grandchildren: Harlen Evans of Sherman, and Payton Bozzuto of Philadelphia; sister-in-law, Kim Schuchart and husband, Daryl of San Antonio; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Powers was preceded in death by: parents, John and Peggy Powers; and brothers: Raymond Powers, Wayne Powers, Frank Powers, and Buddy Powers.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30 P.M. on Friday, July 9, 2021, at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home.  The funeral service will begin at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, July 10 at the funeral home.  Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
