Harold David Beck, age 81, passed away in Gainesville, Texas on the 13th day of August,2024. Mr. Beck has lived since 1964 principally in Texas. He is survived by his loving wife, Eva Dale Beck and three biological children, Terri Lynn Minzey of Cheyenne, Wyoming; Angela Dawn Haynes of Shreveport, Louisiana; Dana Hal Beck of Shreveport, Louisiana & two children by marriage, Angie Blevins of Gainesville, Texas and Alison Ortowski of Argyle, Texas. Despite the complexities that often come with blending families, Harold and Eva created a cohesive and supportive environment where everyone came together as a big family. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
History
Harold David Beck was born on August 4th, 1943 to Willis Harold Beck and Florence Belle Beck in Chelsea, Oklahoma. Willis Harold Beck and Florence Belle Beck both predeceased Harold. Harold also had a sister, Mazie Doris Beck, who predeceased Harold. Harold enjoyed traveling with his wife, particularly travel that involved his passions: fly fishing and hunting.
Harold David Beck entered law school late in life, after a successful career in the electronics industry, working at Texas Instruments in Dallas from 1964 until 1979. He was admitted to the Texas State Bar in November 1982 and performed many pro bono services for indigent clients. Harold enjoyed working with youth, as evidenced by his serving as Assistant Scoutmaster while his son Dana was in Boy Scouts and Explorers and serving on the board of Operation Orphans for approximately 27 years.
Harold asked that he be cremated, and his ashes distributed along with the ashes of his beloved dogs, Brandy & Dixie in a high mountain stream. Cremation services will be conducted by George J. Carroll & Son funeral home. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Lake Kiowa Lodge, 905 Kiowa Drive West, on Saturday, October 5th from 2-4 pm.
