Harold Brown

Harold Clinton (Sonny) Brown, 86, of Era, Texas was called to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 12, 2024.

Harold was born on November 15, 1937 at his home in Forestburg, TX to Joe Wesley and Evelyn Estelle (Wright) Brown. He attended school at Era and graduated in 1957. He then attended and graduated from North Texas University. He proudly served in the United States Army National Guard from 1955 to 1961. He then went on to work for State Farm Insurance as an adjuster, farmed and ranched his whole life, and went on to work for AMPI selling dairy supplies where he retired in 2000. He married Anna Margaret Clifton on May 17, 1962 in Silsbee, TX. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, rodeo, raising quail, dancing, and spending time with his family. He was proud to have served on the Era School Board for 21 years.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Evelyn Brown, brother, Billy Kendall Brown, and sister, Barbara Jo Pierce.

He is survived by his wife, Anna Margaret Brown, brother, Larry Don Brown and life friend Betty of Slidell, daughter, Sherri Jo Brown of Era, son, Clinton Wayne Brown and wife JoAnna of Era, granddaughter, Heather Welper and husband Calvin of Era, great grandson, sister-in-law Juanita Fern and Lee Roy Hanzel, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Memorial services honoring Harold will be held at 10:30AM on Saturday, March 16, 2024 at Era First Baptist Church in Era. Lunch will be held at the church hall immediately following.  Recognized as honorary pallbearers are Brad Bugg, Damon Reed, Jimbo Huckabee, Tommy Gray, Jimmy Massengale, Jimmy Myer, David Miller, and Wayne Smith.
