Harold Glen Otts, 96, of Gainesville, passed from this earth on April 7, 2022 in Gainesville.
Harold was born June 5, 1925 in Gainesville, TX to Grover Dewitt Otts and Mae Bell Hardin Otts. He had an older sister, Doris Pauline Lott, an older brother, Wayne Hardin Otts, and three younger brothers, twins Foy Lee and Coy Dee Otts and Jerry Eugene Otts.
Mr. Otts married Billie Jean (BJ) Robison on October 21, 1951. He was in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII and flew B-25’s. Following his military service, he attended Texas A&M College and worked as a salesman for Glidden Paint in Dallas and Chicago. A subsequent job with Humble Oil Company enabled him to return to Texas and led to the purchase of a gasoline station on North Grand Avenue which he managed for 11 years. Mr. Otts began Otts Furniture in downtown Gainesville in 1960 and managed it until his retirement. Harold and BJ enjoyed flying airplanes, being with family and friends at area lakes, trips to the mountains for hiking and skiing, as well as trips abroad with business associates and friends.
Survivors include: his wife of 71 years; sons, Jim and Mike of Gainesville; grandson Barry and wife Laura of Gainesville; granddaughters Leslie Lock and husband Ricky of San Antonio and Ashley Weatherby and husband Colt of Piedmont, OK; and great-grandchildren Jackson Otts and Abigail and Amelia Weatherby as well as several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Otts was preceded in death by his parents, sister, and brothers.
A funeral service is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Monday, April 11, 2022, at Commerce Street Church of Christ with Tom Martin officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
