A Mass of Christian Burial for Helen Corcoran Metzler, 84, of Lindsay, is scheduled for 10:30 AM on Thursday, December 12, 2019, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church with Fr. Matthew Tatyrek officiating. Interment will follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery. A Rosary will be recited at 6:00 PM on Wednesday, December 11, at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home, with visitation to follow.
Mrs. Metzler passed away December 7, 2019 in Gainesville.
Helen Josephine was born April 11, 1935 in Gainesville to John Franklin “Mutt” and Catherine Bernadine (Herr) Corcoran. She married Raymond Metzler on November 24, 1955 in Gainesville and the couple raised their children on the family farm. Mrs. Metzler retired from Weber Aircraft after more than 20 years of employment. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, gardening, and supporting Texas Rangers Baseball. Mrs. Metzler was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church and was proud of her Irish heritage.
Survivors include: husband Raymond Metzler of Lindsay; daughter Sharon Felderhoff and husband Ronnie of Muenster; son Karl Metzler and wife Kathy of Era; son Jeff Metzler and wife Karen of Bowie; son Brad Metzler and wife Ronda of Lindsay; daughter-in-law Brenda Metzler of Lindsay; 23 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sister Charlotte Zwinggi of Fredericksburg; sister Linda Brown and husband Tom of Commerce; and sister-in-law Rita Corcoran of Gainesville.
Mrs. Metzler was preceded in death by: parents John “Mutt” and Catherine Corcoran; son Chris Metzler; sister Doris DeRossett; sister Vivian Kasparek; brother Harold Corcoran; and brother Tom Corcoran.
