Herbert Wilbert Belz, 92, of Forney, Texas passed away April 26, 2025 in Bonham, Texas.
Herbert was born December 28, 1932 in Taylor, Texas to Albert W. Belz and Nona L. Poenitz-Belz.
The family moved to Era, Texas where Herbert attended Era High School. After which Herbert joined the US Army. Herbert’s first marriage was in 1958 to Barbara Ann Graham and had two children, daughter Buettina Kay Belz Mclaughlin and Darel Ray Belz. Herbert also had a step son Larry Schenk from this union. Herbert married Anna May Grable in 1993. Herbert was a member of Seventh-Day Adventist Church. Herbert enjoyed tending to his cows at his farm in Delta County and later enjoyed growing vegetables at Belz Farm. Herbert’s highlights were visiting with his brothers and sisters at family gatherings. Herbert worked for DART for over 30 years.
Herbert is survived by: daughter Buettina Kay McLaughlin and husband Lee McLaughlin of Royse City, TX.; a son Darel Ray Belz and wife Pamela Belz of Forney, TX; Grandchildren: Aaron McLaughlin and wife Tiffany Black McLaughlin, Amy Blake and husband David Blake, Christina Wade, Ashly Sanders and husband Brett Sanders, Darel R. Belz II and Larry Schenk Jr.; Great-Grandchildren: Hollis and Hayden Blake; Deaken, Hudson and Owen McLaughlin; Tyler and Austin Wade; Savannah and Saylor Sanders and Blaise Keller Hernandez; Siblings: Vernell Argo of Collinsville, TX; Annie Kirk of Arlington; Lee Roy Belz of Chico, TX; Daniel Belz and wife Barbara of Huntsville, TX; David Belz of Gainesville, TX; Glenn Belz and wife Debra Belz of Grand Prairie, TX; Fred Belz and wife Johnette Belz of Arlington, TX, Thelma Belz of Arlington, TX and many nieces and nephews.
Herbert was preceded in death by parents Albert and Nona L. Poenitz Belz; wife Anna May Belz; stepson Larry Schenk; brother Gideon Belz; sisters Ruby Lee Belz and Violet Bishop; brother-in -laws Floyd Bishop, Bob Argo and Homer Kirk; sister-in-law Gloria Belz; nieces Suzan Lewis and Melanie Belz; nephew Greg Kirk and his beloved blue heeler Missy.
Services are scheduled for Saturday, May 3, 2025, at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home, Gainesville. The family will begin receiving friends at 1:30 p.m. and a funeral service will begin at 2:30 p.m.
